Starting in 2025, the policy on the Vietnam visa for Italian citizens has been expanded to make travel and short-term business trips easier. Under the new regulations, Italian passport holders may enter and stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days without a visa. If they wish to remain in the country for a longer period, Italian citizens can still apply for an e-visa with a validity of up to 90 days.

Do Italian Citizens Need a Visa to Enter Vietnam?
No. Italian citizens may enter Vietnam without a visa if their stay does not exceed 45 days. However, a visa becomes mandatory in the following situations:
- Planning to stay in Vietnam for more than 45 days
- Carrying out work activities or long-term employment
- Participating in investment projects or business cooperation
- Working in journalism or media-related assignments
| Type of Visa | Stay ≤ 45 days | Stay > 45 days |
| Tourist Visa | Visa-free | Visa required |
| Business Visa | Visa-free | Visa required |
For Italian citizens who wish to stay in Vietnam beyond the visa-free period, there are two available options:
- Exit to a neighboring country and return to Vietnam to receive a new 45-day visa exemption.
- Submit an application for an electronic visa (e-visa) valid for up to 90 days.
At present, the Vietnam visa for Italian citizens through the e-visa system has been greatly improved, making the application process much easier and more convenient.
Types of Vietnamese Visa Available for Italian Citizens
There are three types of Vietnam visa for Italian citizens: the e-visa, the Visa on Arrival, and the stamped visa issued by the embassy or consulate.
E-Visa
An electronic visa is a type of entry permit issued by Vietnam to foreign nationals for various purposes such as tourism, business trips, employment, or investment. When applicants meet the required conditions, they may be granted an e-visa with a maximum validity of 90 days (effective from 15/08/2023).
Vietnam e-visa application process:
Step 1: Online registration on the e-visa portal
- Visit the official website of the Immigration Department at evisa.gov.vn.
- Complete the visa application form and upload a portrait photo along with the passport information page.
- After submitting the form, the system will automatically generate an electronic application code for you to track the processing status.
Step 2: Payment of fees
The current fees regulated by the Government of Vietnam are:
- 25 USD for a single-entry electronic visa.
- 50 USD for a multiple-entry electronic visa.
Payment must be made by international credit or debit card.
Please note that the e-visa application fee is strictly non-refundable, regardless of whether the application is approved or denied. Even a minor mistake in the information provided or an incorrect photo may cause your application to be rejected, requiring a new submission and additional fees.

Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is a popular option for tourists and short-term business travelers, including those seeking a Vietnam visa for Italian citizens. However, to receive a visa at a Vietnamese international airport, you must obtain an approval letter before boarding your flight.
Upon landing, you only need to present this letter together with a valid passport to have the visa stamped and complete the entry procedure.
If you prefer not to handle complicated paperwork on your own, the Visa on Arrival service from Entry Vietnam Visa will help you save significant time. We can complete the application and send the result within just a few hours, allowing you to board your flight with complete peace of mind and without worrying about delays in your schedule.

- Clear and competitive fees with no hidden charges;
- A dedicated team closely monitoring each application to minimize the risk of rejection;
